Samsung Galaxy S3 is the first phone among Samsung branded phones to feature an LED notification light. As someone who has used both the forefathers of this phone, lack of an LED older Galaxy S phones was sad and it was a much needed hardware to keep track of missed events when all the other high-end Android phones were already sporting it.
As the name suggests, the LED blinks whenever there is a notification with different colors based on the type of notification. Several apps include options to customize the color, but a majority of them do not and the color for such type of apps is up to the phone’s wish. You cannot change the Samsung Galaxy S3’s LED color manually. For example, the LED color of the Gmail app notifications is by-default white and there is no in-app option to change that. You cannot change it to blue or green or anything.
Meet Light Manager — App to Customize Samsung Galaxy S3 LED Notification Colors
Meet Light Manager, an LED configuring app built specially for Samsung Galaxy S3. While there are a couple of apps that will let you customize Samsung Galaxy S3 LED color, Light Manager sets itself apart for its simplicity.

KEY FEATURES
Using Light Manager, you can easily change the color of LED in Samsung Galaxy S3 or configure its blinking frequency with a few taps. The app is available free of cost and can be downloaded using the above Play Store link.
The app is fairly easy to use and has a simple User Interface. Basically, LED Manager lets you customize Samsung Galaxy S3 LED notification colors in three ways:
(If you consider yourself to be a geek, you should check out Light Flow app. It is a more advanced app to customize or change Samsung Galaxy S3 LED color. Scroll to the bottom of this post to know more about it.)
1. LED color
Configuring LED colors for different app notifications in Light Manager is easy. It has a custom list of compatible apps (such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Gmail, etc.) and events (such as missed calls, SMS, low battery, etc.) whose notification’s color can be customized. The list of compatible apps, however, is quite small and not all apps are supported.
The color of the LED can be chosen from a pre-defined list of colors or manually, by entering a color’s HEX code (for example, #0099FF, etc.)
2. Flashing frequency
As the name suggests, this option lets you manage the flashing frequency of LED for a particular event/notification.
3. Sleeping Time
How about disabling LED of Samsung Galaxy at night? Light Manager lets you do that as well. Simply add a time period and it’ll turn off LED during that time so that the LED light doesn’t poke your eyes at night.
Light Flow — Advanced (Nerdy) App to Customize Samsung Galaxy S3 LED Notification Colors
If you aren’t satisfied with Light Manager, Light Flow is a more advanced app that you should try out. Apart from customizing LED color, sleep time and flashing frequency, Light Flow even lets you customize LED color per contact basis, adding vibration & sound, LED light duration, Camera flash LED and much more than Light Flow.
It’s a better and much more complex app as compared to Light Manager. If you’re a novice user, I’d recommend to stick to Light flow or else Light Flow is the best app around.
