The firmware, which goes by the code XXELK4, has a build date of 6th November, which means that Samsung could be readying the update for a late November or early December release. In this tutorial, we will show you how to update your Samsung Galaxy S3 to Android 4.1.2 XXELK4 firmware manually.

How to Flash Android 4.1.2 XXELK4 in Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300
Flashing Android 4.1.2 XXELK4 in Samsung Galaxy S3 is pretty easy. The process requirestwo files, which can be downloaded below:
Download: 1. Android 4.1.2 XXELK4 firmware: I9300XXELK4_I9300OJKELK5_ILO.zip (Hotfile)
2. Odin: Odin3_v3.04.zip
3. Samsung Kies (needed for drivers)
Step 1. Before we start, make a Nandroid backup of your phone in case anything goes wrong during the process. You can follow our tutorial for this job:
Step 2. Extract the zipped firmware file using WinZip, WinRAR or 7-Zip into a folder. Upon extracting, you will get a file named as ‘I9300XXELK4_I9300OJKELK5_HOME.tar.md5’.
Do the same for Odin3_v3.04.zip.
Step 3. Turn of your phone and start it into download mode by pressing Volume down + home + power buttons at the same time.
Next, connect it to your desktop using a USB cable. A box will light up blue on the left side indicating that the phone has been detected.
Step 4. Click on the PDA button and select the extracted I9300XXELK4_I9300OJKELK5_HOME.tar.md5 file.
Next, ensuring that only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked, hit the Start button.
DO NOT turn off your desktop at any cost during the flashing process.
Step 5. There’s no step 5! Your phone will automatically reboot.
Stuck in a Boot Loop?
If the phone is stuck in a boot loop, force turn off your phone by by directly removing the battery.
Next, enter recovery mode by pressing Volume up + home + power buttons. Leave the buttons as soon as you see a green Android figure flash on the screen or the device will again reboot. Using volume buttons to scroll and the power button to choose an option, select Wipe data/factory reset. Next, again select the Wipe Cache option. This should solve your problem.
