Ever felt like having a provision for individually locking a particular app or a group of apps with some pass code?
Quiet an important feature as putting a general lock code just to protect some data is inconvenient. Every time you have to enter the pass code just to protect some photos or texts.
There are apps available on the App store which can protect your data and allow access only after typing the right password. But, these apps serve only a particular purpose ex. an app which can lock only your photos. Then again for videos, you need a different app. For texts, another app etc.
Another downside of such apps is that you need to export photos or videos from library to the app, secure them and go back to library and delete the transferred files. All this is not worth since there is an easy option.
Folder Passcode
There is a simple solution to all these inconveniences. Thanks to a Cydia tweak, You can simply classify your apps into folders, or put all those icons of apps (photos, messages, videos etc.) which you wish to secure into a single folder and lock that folder with a pass code.
So, this ensures two things:
- No one can open these apps without entering the correct pass code.
- No one can even see which all apps you have or you are using once you put them in a folder and lock it.
This tweak is named ‘Folder Passcode‘ on Cydia which enables you to lock any folder you want. Its an amazing free tweak and pretty simple to use.
All you need to do is install it from Cydia, then it immediately appears in ‘Settings’ . There you will be prompted to set your pass code first. Then as you enter, you will find ‘How to use this tweak’ option. Tap on that and it will directly take you to a video, which perfectly guides through.
- Create a folder or folders and put the icons of apps which you want to secure ( Whatsapp, Mail etc. ).
- After you are done with it, Erase the name of the folder for eg, Utilities, games, finance etc., and simply type [lock] and tap on ‘Done’
- That’s it! The folder will be locked
This doesn’t change the name of your folder
Every time you wish to open these apps, you will have to enter the right pass code; thus securing your data without the need of a general pass code or installing individual privacy apps.
Now if you want to take this restrictions off, the procedure is almost the same. The only difference is after erasing the folder name, type [unlock] and you are done.
In case it does not work after your first try, just restart your iOS device and try again . It will surely work 🙂
