Live wallpapers have been an unique feature of Android since their introduction with Android 2.1 Eclair. Lately, we have been seeing some great live wallpapers release on the Play Store. One such live wallpaper is Lonely Tree Live Wallpaper, which is a simple yet highly detailed animated wallpaper made specially for this winter season.
The live wallpaper is just beautiful. It features a (lonely) tree that keeps swaying gently and the wallpaper has tons of customizable settings for adjusting the elements in the scene such as wind speed, clouds, size and amount of snowflakes, etc. As a bonus, it’s also lets you add Christmas lights on the tree.
As a person who usually prefers still wallpapers over live ones, I found Lonely Tree Live Wallpaper to be amazing, not for its features or options, but for its neatness. It isn’t distractive in any way and that’s the best part of it.
The wallpaper’s scene is currently only limited to winter, but the developer plans to add more scenes and background elements for different seasons as well in the future, which would make it pretty awesome.
Battery Consumption?
Live wallpapers generally don’t have a very good reputation of being light on battery usage. While I found Lonely Tree live wallpaper to consume slightly lesser battery than others, its usage is still a considerable one.
I tested its battery usage (on my Nexus 4) by turning on the screen for half an hour and compared it versus a still wallpaper in the same manner. The difference was pretty high and the consumption by Lonely Tree Live Wallpaper was nearly double the amount of what the still wallpaper had consumed. Though, it won’t drain your battery so fast on a day-to-day usage basis, given how less time we spend staring on our home-screen.
The wallpaper has a night mode as well, so its battery consumption might be significantly low on phones having AMOLED displays when its turned on.
What’s Missing
The wallpaper is almost perfect in every manner. It has an option turn on night mode, but I wish it was automatic, depending upon the time of day.
Overall, it’s a must have live wallpaper. The full version is available for just 0.99$, which is pretty cheap. There’s a demo version as well, which is fully functional with all the features unlocked and includes no nasty ads. The only difference between these two versions is that the free version will remind you that it’s a demo version every two minutes.
