Valve’s Portal 1 and 2 are two of the PC’s most successful and original games ever. Portalizer, an Android Physics-based puzzle game brings all the crazy portal fun literally right in your hands. The game is fun, the interface is simple and the puzzles are very addictive.
The gameplay is almost identical to the original series. Each stage is an individual puzzle which you solve by travelling from the entry door to the exit one with the help of various portals, weight cubes and other contraptions. The initial stages of the game has you traverse through the stages of the game without the portal gun (A super awesome gun that shoots portals out of it!). The fixed portals in the early stages will help you in getting the hang of the basic physics applied in game. Using portals is as simple as you can think . You walk into one and come out some other place via another one. The portals are reverse accessible too. It is up to you decide how to use this portals as per your needs.
All the game needed was a crazy megalomaniac just-can’t-shut-up AI to give it everything the original Portal games had.
Portalizer has excellent Physics. Various feats like an angled jumps are made possible only by excellent timing and basic projectile motion understanding. The game’s puzzles are super addictive and you would want to get in the next room of puzzles as soon as you complete one.
The game’s interface is pretty simple with easily accessible movement and camera virtual joysticks on the left and right sides of the screen respectively. There are also an interact, zoom and jump buttons on the right side of the screen.
The only problem I found with the interface was that moving the camera around was not very smooth quite like most of the other 1st person mobile games. In a game like Portal, which is full of fast paced adventures, a slow camera can be a bit of a problem.
The biggest disappointment in the game was the lack of GlaDOs. New players won’t find this a problem but series veterans will miss that sarcastic monologue every second they play the game. No mocking comments, no casual threats of murder, no sarcastic jibes. The game has no GlaDOs. All it has is silence.
All in all Portalizer is a new and fun game that is going to keep you in its grips for hours on end. With the addictive puzzles, the fast paced adventures and the ever awesome portals, the game is a definite keeper .
Portalizer comes in two versions — free and paid. The free version is limited to only 5 levels while the full version has over 13 levels to be played.
