With Google pushing its boundaries for a better and an intelligent search experience, this year’s Google I/O saw a multitude of new search features being unveiled for the search website as well as Google Now for Android and iOS. One of the new features reminders for Google Now, which not only let you save things to remember later, but also pick a time or location to trigger those reminders.
Reminders in Google Now can be created in the following command format:
Remind me to <reminder message> on <date>
Remind me to <reminder message> at <location>
To make this experience even better, Google is now extending this feature to Google Search as well. You can now push reminders to Google Now on your phone by setting them from Search.
The type of searches for which reminders can be added are are however quite limited right now and only seems to be working in:
- Well known holidays and occasions
- Upcoming movies
Also note that this feature is currently only working in:
- in the international Google.COM domain and not in any country specific Google search domain such as Google.CO.IN or .CO.UK, etc.
- if you have Personal results turned on (can be configured here).
It’s the small details like this which enhances the Google Search experience even more. Let’s hope that this functionality will be rolled out to more search queries soon in the future.
