Sony has announced the Xperia Z1 Compact for India. The phone that was launched at CES 2014, has been one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2014. In an era where every OEM is releasing a scaled down version of their flagships Sony has handled this differently and admirably. Instead of cutting on the specs, Sony has made available everything we liked about the Xperia Z1 with just a slightly smaller screen and kept the internals just as they were in the Xperia Z1.
The phone is set to be out in the market starting February 24th in India for a retail price of about Rs. 36,990. As Sony has put it best, it is basically the same phone as the Sony Xperia Z1 bt in a more compact chassis.
The device retains the 20.1 MP rear camera with 1/2.3 CMOS Sensor as seen on the Xperia Z1. The device also retains the Social Camera Camera apps that are proprietary to Sony such as Time Shift Burst, Info Eye, Social Live etc. The device is dustproof and waterproof with IP55 and IP58 rating.
The only major difference between the Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z1 is that the Compact version comes with a 4.3 inch Triluminos display which is 720P in resolution. The phone is powered by the latest Snapdragon 800 SoC with 2.2 Ghz Quad Core CPU. The battery on board is a 2300 mAh which is non removable. With Stamina Mode present to help you conserve the battery, you can be sure that the Xperia Z1 would run a marathon for you. The device is expected to come in four color choices that is black, white, yellow and what looks like pink.
