Lenovo was recently in the news when it acquired Motorola from Google. They have been making quite a lot of waves in the smartphone and tablet market, even before announcing the acquisition of Motorola though, which has lead several people name Lenovo as one of the surprise packages to watch out for in 2014.
The Chinese manufacturer took stage at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier today and justified the beliefs of those who said that Lenovo could well spring a surprise or two. The company unveiled three smartphones and a tablet, all of which bring a unique balance to style, substance and battery life.
The Yoga Tablet 10+ HD
The Lenovo Yoga tablet series, right since it’s announcement about two months ago has been one of the most competitive Android tablet series apart from the Nexus series. Lenovo took the game to another level by announcing the Yoga Tablet 10+ HD which brings similar characteristics and design aesthetic as the previous Yoga tablets of hold, stand and tilt, but this time with a bigger screen, better display and longer battery life. the Yoga Tablet 10+ HD comes with a 1920×1200 10.1 inch display and is powered by a Snapdragon 400 SoC. The device promises an 18 hour plus battery life while running Android 4.3 and various Lenovo powered DOit apps. There is also an 8 MP camera for those who like shooting pictures with their tablets. The tablet will be made available for $349 in April which comes to approximately Rs. 21,000.
The Three Smartphones revealed are S860, S850 and S660
Lenovo also announced three smartphones, all of which are 4.7 inch or above. Looks like 4.7 inch screen size has become the new baseline. Let’s look at all these devices and specs in detail:
The S860 features a brushed metallic design and brings to floor a 5.3 inch display. The device is powered by a quad core MTK SoC with each core clocked at 1.3 GHz. The phone is a fairly bulky one and weighs about 190 grams. It runs Android 4.2 and there is no support for LTE on board. The display is a 720 P and there is 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB ROM on board. THe device is powered by a massive 4,000 mAh battery. There is an 8 MP shooter and 1.3 MP front facing Camera. The Lenovo S850 is a hot chiclet style phone if we were to generalise. The phone is available in only pink and white color and sports an all glass build with a thin (8.2 mm) profile. The device has neat curves on the edges and beautiful colorful notifications. The display is a 5 inch one with 720 P and the device is powered by the same MTK Quad Core 1.3 GHz SoC as the S860. The device runs Android 4.2 while Lenovo has promised an upgrade to KitKat. There is also a 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera on board. The lenovo S850 will cost $269.
The Lenovo S660 is the smallest device in the range sporting a screen that is “only” 4.7 inches with a resolution of 960×540. The SoC powering the device is the same 1.3 GHz Quad core MTK SoC as seen on the Lenovo S860 and S850. There is 1 GB RAM on board with 16 GB of storage space while also bringing a 8 MP rear camera.
