Samsung Galaxy S V is the new flagship device from Samsung. The device was revealed at MWC 2014 and so far has divided opinions more than the music of Justin Beiber. While everyone appreciates what monster the device is from a specs point of view, a rather iterative Galaxy S IV design is what has people sitting on the fence. Add to it, the band aid trolls, and the Galaxy S V has invited very mixed reactions so far.

However, one thing that the Galaxy S V does bring though is a slightly, read .1 inch larger display at 5.1 inches as compared to the Galaxy S IV. This makes the Samsung flagship one of the largest smartphones, at least in the phone category. It is always interesting though, how these flagships stack against one another, in terms of size, especially given that everyone’s hands are of different size, your comfort level of holding devices may be different.
So, here are the size comparisons of the Samsung Galaxy S V and some of the other Flagship devices.
Samsung Galaxy S V vs the iPhone 5s
The inspiration behind the finger print scanner or that terribly done gold model of the Samsung Galaxy S V is without a doubt the iPhone 5s. Here is the comparison of how they look side by side and as you can see, clearly, the iPhone looks like a tiny dwarf.
Samsung Galaxy S V vs LG G2
The LG G2 and the Galaxy S V are perhaps are as close to each other as anyone else in terms of dimensions and weight. Although, what really stands out from the image is the lack of bezels on the LG device which in comparison, makes the S V really looks just a step behind in terms of the design.
Samsung Galaxy S V vs the Samsung Galaxy S IV
Although the two devices have barely difference of .1 inch in terms of screen size, its obvious that the S V looks a fair bit chunky than the S IV. There is also about 15 g of more weight when it comes to the S V and the device is also tad thicker than it’s predecessor.
Samsung Galaxy S V vs HTC One
The HTC One won the award for the best smartphone at MWC 2014 and in terms of design and feel, the two devices cannot be more apart than what they are. However, the two weigh very similarly on the scales. In terms of size, the S V is slightly bigger than the HTC One especially as the One has ‘only’ 4.7 inch screen on it. In terms of thickness too, the S V trumps quite comfortably.
Samsung Galaxy S V vs Galaxy Note III
The two flagships of Samsung when put side by side, show that the Note III dwarfs the S V and by some distance in virtually every single department. But, given that the two devices are made for entirely different sets of audience you can understand why Samsung has been successful in having a Note series run parallel to the more conventional phone series.
Samsung Galaxy S V vs Nokia Lumia 1020
The only Windows Phone device in this post is the Lumia 1020. Some might say that the Lumia 1520 is the latest flagship, but we still feel the 1020 takes the cake. The Lumia while being much heavier thanks to that chunky Camera module is well short of the size of the S V. In fact, it is very much possible to use the 1020 with one hand given if you have average to above average sized hands, the same cannot be said of the S V though.
Samsung Galaxy S V vs Nexus 5
Just like the Samsung Galaxy S V, the Nexus 5 is a largely plasticy device and the specs apart from the camera are fairly comparable. Yet, the LG device is good 15 grams slighter. In terms of size though, the two are pretty closely matched with few millimeters making a difference here and there.
Samsung Galaxy S V vs Sony Xperia Z2
We purposely kept this one for the last. the reason? Well, the Xperia Z2 trumped the Galaxy S V at the MWC in terms of most appreciated smartphone. At least, thats how the initial reactions from the show floor were. The Xperia Z2 is a successor to the Xperia Z1 and the phone is an all glass and metal chassis which according to those who used the phone, feels a lot better than the S V. The S V while being lighter is also slightly smaller than the Sony device which may well have advantage of it’s own.
So, those were the size comparisons of various flagship devices with the Galaxy S V, if there is any other particular device that interests you which we may have skipped, do let us know and we will add it.
