Facebook is the ultimate place for Chatter builder. Sometimes, I think of Facebook as the largest table in a boys mess. There is virtually unlimited information being shared and plenty of noise around. To stand apart, either you have to be incredible famous or simply do something extra ordinary that nobody has. One of the cool ways of standing out on Facebook has been replying via Memes in the comments section since Facebook added the ability to add images in comments. This makes you look cool, funny and well, in sync with the modern time when there is a meme for everything.
However, there are some things that carry a greater impact when said than when read or written, and this is perhaps the reason why some of the leading IM apps today such as Whatsapp or even BBM recently, have the ability to send Voice Messages. Unfortunately, there is no such ability on Facebook. But, thanks to a pretty cool Chrome Extension called ‘Talk and Comment’ you can now post your Voice Messages in comments or leave Audio Notes.
Download: You can install the extension for free from Chrome Web Store here
What does the Extension do?
The extension just like any other extension for Chrome sits on the toolbar of the browser. When you click on it for the first time, post the installation, the extension requests the permission to access the inbuilt microphone of your laptop. You must provide this for extension to record your Voice Message.
Click on allow in the notification that appears. Once you have done that, refresh your Facebook feed and you would see right next to the Camera icon which allows you to post pictures in the comments an icon of microphone starts to appear.
All you have to do now, is to hold on to the microphone with the help of a mouse click and record your message. Once done, let go of it and it would convert the recording to a form a link which if the user clicks, would be able to hear your audio message. Pretty cool way of transmitting your thoughts in your own voice.
The extension is limited but does the job
The extension is no doubt very limited and there is no real customizations you can do. But, sometimes for things like sending audio messages, you want things that work and are simple to use. And Talk and Comment is exactly that, it gets what needs to be done with minimum fuss and coming in way or hampering your Facebook experience in anyway whatsoever.
