Wi-fi Signal is one of the most debatable topics in a household. We all want our rooms or work destinations to be as close to the Wi-Fi Router as possible to gather the best possible connection. However, quantifying this with a speed test can be a tedious task as you have to move all over your place and individually conduct a speed test to know which point or corner of the house gets the best network. However, if you have a Macbook, your job is a little easier thanks to an inbuilt Wi-Fi Optimizer in your system.
To optimize your Home Wi-Fi using your Macbook, simply follow the steps below:
Find the Airport icon in your Menu bar and Right Click on it with Alt Key pressed on the keyboard. We are using a third party app called Bartender, hence the Airport icon is in a sub menu bar. You will see a drop down like above when you Right Click+Alt, from where you need to select, “Open Wireless Diagnostics”
Once the diagnostics Window is open, you do not have to do anything to the window, leave it as it is. Instead go to the menu bar and you will see an option of Window. Click that and from the dropdown select “Utilities”
Click on Performance, and this will open the performance record of your Wi-Fi connection. The rule of thumb is to look at the Quality assessment of the connection that is on the left pane. Move around your house to check which is the point where the Quality is consistently excellent and the noise levels are at the lowest. This would indeed be the best spot for you to sit and use your system with optimal Wi-Fi connection speed.
