If you are in the market for a slim, beautiful laptop without compromising on the raw horsepower, then the Macbook Air is as good an option as you can pick. Slightly pricey, but a device that will stand the test of time, Macbook Air has become the go to machine of the people who need to get a lot of work to be done on the go. So far, Apple has offered Macbook Air in two variants, an 11.6 inch model and a slightly larger 13.3 inch model.
However, according to the report in BGR, Apple could well be in the process of renewing it’s Macbook Air lines this year with a brand new 12 inch system. Last year, Apple did not make any major design changes to it’s Macbook Air or Macbook Pro as it bought the much anticipated Haswell processors from Intel on board. For 2014 though, looks like Macbook Air would finally come with a Retina display, so far found on the iPhones, iPads as well as Retina Macbook Pros. Not just this, the 12 inch Macbook Air might also bring a redesigned touchpad which would dramatically reduce the thickness of the laptop as the Touchpad would bring in new force sensors. The same report states that the new Macbook Airs would also do away with a fan for an advanced exhaust system, meaning whatever little noise the previous generation of Macbook Airs did make, the newer ones promise to be even quieter.
A Retina Macbook Air has been rumored for a while, and the new 12 inch size would mean the laptop would be a perfect cross between productivity and light chassis. The rumor is certainly something to be excited about, especially if you are planning to upgrade your current Macbook Air. There is obviously no information on the price or the release date of the same, at least as yet.
