If the launch of the Gionee Elife E7 at Buddh International Circuit was unusual, the launch of the Gionee Elife S5.5 seemed to be a notch above. This was the sentiment echoing in the air at Goa. Yes, you read that right, the launch of the Gionee Elife S5.5, the slimmest smartphone in the world took place in Goa today morning. The launch was a one of the kind with a party and jovial atmosphere all around.
As the name of the device suggests, the phone is exactly 5.5 mm thick or rather thin, should we say. The phone was showcased at the MWC earlier this year and was launched in China in February. The smartphone affirms the belief that Gionee can indeed made beautiful smartphones after they did receive some criticism for the plastic clad Gionee E7. The device is made out of beautiful metal and glass sandwich which feels really high end.
On the specs front, the Gionee S5.5 is no slouch either. It features a 5 inch Super AMOLED 1080P display with PPI of 441. The device also has 2GB RAM on board and 16 GB ROM. The device dimensions are 145.1 x 70.2 x 5.6 mm. The phone has Amigo 2.0 skin on top of Android 4.2. The primary rear camera on board is 13 MP with LED Flash while the front camera is a 5 MP. The device is powered by an Octa Core 1.7 Ghz SoC while the battery on board is a 2300 mAh.
The device will be priced at Rs. 22,999 in the market and will be available later next month in market.
