Micromax seems to be really enthusiastic about the launch of the Micromax Canvas Doodle 3 which will carry the model number A102 according to the report published here. If you are a regular TV enthusiastic, you must have caught the advertisement talking about the upcoming device. However, just like any other device, it does seem that well before the official launch of the device the specifications as well as the press renders of the phone have surfaced on the internet.
TechDroid is reporting that the device would be priced at around Rs 10,000 and apparently 10,000 units of the smartphone have already been shipped. If that is the case, it is obvious Micromax is eyeing the Rs 10,000 and below category and looking to make serious inroads before one of the so called bigger players like Motorola steals their thunder. This sits well with our theory too about the Rs 10,000 category being the next big playing stage and differentiator in the world of personal tech.
Canvas Doodle 3 is expected to come in two different colors, white and blue and will pack in a flip cover, a bit like the ones on Samsung Note devices. On the specs front, the phone will come with 6 inch FWVGA screen, 1.3 GHz Dual Core Processor (our guess is one of the MediaTek ones), 1 GB of RAM and Android 4.2.2 JellyBean. The Rear Camera on the device is expected to be a 5 MP Sensor with .3MP front snapper. The battery onboard is expected to be a 2500 mAh battery and will have all the usual Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.
Looking at the press render and specs, the Canvas Doodle 3 is definitely a phablet and brings the same slab like form factor with nothing really unique about the features or the construction of the same. You could be forgiven to not be excited for the device but you do wonder if there is a catch here given that Micromax certainly seems to be spending pretty heavily on the marketing front for the device including regularly pushing updates promising ‘even bigger canvas’ on Social Media. Guess, we will only find out about that in the coming days when the phone is launched.
Edit: The device has been launched at Rs 8,500 in India with all the above leaks proving to be right. For the record, the device is a Dual SIM variant and powered by a 1.3 GHz Dual Core MT6572 SoC with 512 MB of RAM.
