Samsung last year came up with a hybrid which I am not sure most of us would know because the number of Galaxy devices in the market are more than one could remember. The hybrid which I am talking about the smartphone-cum-point and shoot, the Samsung Galaxy Zoom which features a smartphone built within a point-and-shoot form factor.
For those who don’t know Samsung Galaxy Zoom is different from the Galaxy Camera because the Galaxy Camera is a digital camera running on Android whereas Galaxy Zoom is a smartphone having a point-and-shoot camera. Samsung’s strange combination might not been able to amuse the public but it looks it bagged a few sales last year.
Continuing the same strategy, Samsung intends to release an iteration to the same concept which possibly will be based on Samsung Galaxy S5 just like last year’s Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. Photos posted on Baidu leaks the Galaxy K, which looks like a new Zoom from the popular smartphone manufacturer.
On the other side, Samsung is holding an international press event in Singapore on April 29, 2014 having the tagline ‘Kapture The Moment’ which probably could be the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom or what is being claimed as the ‘Galaxy K’. According to PhoneArena, the Galaxy K will have an improved camera module with 20MP sensor and a 10X zoom lens along with true Xenon flash, though the front-facing camera will be a disappointment with mere 2MP sensor. It will be powered by an Exynos 5 Hexa processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 4.8″ AMOLED display. Adding to this, the source also tells that it will run Android 4.4.2 KitKat right out of the box which seems to be right as Android 4.4.2 is the latest version right now.
Observing the pictures the design seems to be similar to the previous model. The attached pictures above showcases nothing about the front panel and display but just the back which seems to be having a plastic case. We shall get more updates once the product is officially announced or if more leaks arrive.
