For the first time since Lenovo acquired the services of Motorola’s mobility division, Motorola would be taking the center stage for a major device announcement. The event that is to be held on May 13th in London will have the eyeballs of the tech media glued on to see how much has that acquisition affected Motorola, if at all. The event is expected to be the one where Motorola announces the highly anticipated successor to the blockbuster hit that Motorola Moto G was.
We had reported earlier this month that Motorola was indeed working on the Motorola Moto E which promises to be a lot more affordable than the Moto G. The copywriting on the invite certainly validates our story about a new budget device from Motorola which states, “Connect more people to the world’s information and each other, and they can do great things. Introducing the next smartphone from Motorola to make these connections happen. Made to last, Priced for all.”
Not only does the copy clarify that the phone would be aimed at the budget section but also fuels the speculation that Motorola may bring a tough exterior and maybe a high IP rating making the device water proof and dust proof. But, there may well be more than one smartphone on the agenda. There have been reports from Mexico that Motorola has been working on a Ferrari and LTE versions of Moto G. Motorola is also expected to announce the successor to the Motorola Moto X, with the name Motorola Moto X+1 being touted by the extremely reliable @Evleaks. The phone has been slated for a summer launch in the US, and with this event being in London, we doubt we would see the Moto X+1 just now though.
With LG set to announce the LG G3 on May 27th too, you could be assured that the month of May would bring some very interesting devices to the market in case you are planning an upgrade on your current smartphone.
What would you like to see from the next Motorola smartphone? Do let us know in the section below.
Edit: Not just in London, looks like Motorola is sending out invites in India too for the event to be held on the same day!
