OPPO Mobiles the leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer arrived in India earlier this year in late January 2014. OPPO which actually is Guangdong Oppo Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. headquartered in Dongguan, Guangdong, China has been into electronic business since 2004 but they caught the attention in various markets after the launch of Find 5 in February 2013.
OPPO mobiles entered the Indian market with the launch of OPPO N1, the 5.9-inch full HD display Android running phablet which has an option to flash CyanogenMod. It’s USP is 206 degrees swivel 13MP camera which was the first of its kind and their partnership with the CM team with this handset. As of now, OPPO has four handsets for Indian consumers to choose from which includes, OPPO R1, OPPO Find 5, OPPO Neo and OPPO N1 which they have expanded to five with the launch of OPPO Joy, a budget Android smartphone under 10k price range.
OPPO Joy, the 3G enabled budget smartphone targeting the young generation and first-time smartphone users have got a lot more to offer than any other smartphone in the same category. Aggressively priced at Rs. 8,990, OPPO Joy features a sleek form factor with a full touch panel on the front. It sports a 4.0-inch WVGA super sensitive display and is powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core processor supported by 512MB RAM and 4GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via an external microSD card. It has a 3MP rear camera and 0.3MP front-facing camera and packs a 1700mAh battery.
The OPPO Joy will run on ColorOS based on Android 4.2 JellyBean having the option to set their own custom gestures for literally anything. The handset comes with a unique file sharing technology which for now will only be available on OPPO Joy called as HotKnot. It enables faster, limitless transmission in a completely secured environment. This impressive technology takes low power consumption and offers fast transmission speed at zero additional cost. OPPO is also providing free 5GB cloud storage from their own proprietary O-Cloud service.
OPPO has a strong brand presence in North America, Europe and Asia which they are trying to dig deep further in India. Following the same, OPPO is aiming for 200 service centres in the next one year and total 10 products in the portfolio by the end of this year.
