About 60% of the people who exercise the internet own a Gmail account. It is without a doubt the most popular free E-Mail client. Add in the popularity of Android and how you need a Google ID to basically get your phone to speeds, you can understand why the numbers are a plenty when it comes to Gmail. Gmail for Android was subject to a major redesign by Google a few months ago and if these leaked screenshots are to be believed, then Google has similar plans for Gmail on the web.
According to Geek, Google is testing a new redesigned version of Gmail fro web with select few users. The change was rolled out as an update but by no means does this assure that this will be the final design, if a redesign takes place at all. Some of the ground breaking features of the update include a complete redesign to a more Holo like interface in line with the UX of Google Now.
The toolbars and sidebars are all gone and have been replaced by a button centric interface. These buttons have been moved to the bottom right of the screen and include features like Compose, Reminders etc. This adds in a speculation that Google is tightly integrating reminders into Gmail for Web. Not just that, new Gmail has the ability to snooze messages and starring the message has been replaced by pinning it to the top. Hangouts icon now sits right on top all alone and we guess that it would not be always visible like it is currently. Newer category of mails such as Finance would be added to the current existing ones like Updates, Social and Primary.
It is worth reiterating that Google in the past has tested new redesigns with its users and by no means does it indicate that this would be the real and final deal. However, if it indeed does turn out to be the real deal, we must admit it was due one and looks like a sweet job!
