After days of speculation, Motorola announced the Motorola Moto E in India as a budget alternate to the already blockbuster hits that the Moto G and Moto X have been . The device is selling for Rs 6,999 in an exclusive tie up with Flipkart which saw the phone being sold on the E-Com giants from the midnight of May 13th. Just like the Moto G, the Moto E will come with exchangeable back covers which will be exclusively sold via Flipkart too.
Moto E is everything that it was rumoured to be. In the broad sense it is a step in the right direction as Motorola continues to attempt climbing the stairs of success in the world of personal technology.
On the specs front, the Moto E is perhaps what Nokia X wanted to be. An experience for those who want to step into the hot current that Android is currently. The device is moderately spec’d but if you look at it from the perspective of what other competitors are offering in devices fro Rs 7,000, you know that Motorola has done a fine job with the Moto E. The device has a qHD display, with a PPI of 256, which if measured diagonally measures 4.3 inches. The device has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top of the screen and a nano coating for basic water repulsion. Moto E will be powered by a Dual Core Snapdragon 200 SoC and will have 1 GB of RAM to keep things moving along swiftly. With KitKat 4.4 out of the box and guaranteed update to whatever is the next sweet Android version, the performance issues should surely be feeling a sigh of relief.
As expected, the device is a dual sim phone with support for 3G. The device will have an internal memory of 4 GB which can be expanded by inserting a Micro SD card into the slot with Moto E supporting unto 32 GB cards. The device is mainly a plastic build and weighs 142 grams. As expected, there is no front facing camera in addition to the rear camera which is 5 MP with no LED flash present. The speakers on the device are mono speakers and are located on the front of the device. Moto E retains the dimple on the back just like the Moto G and Moto X.
The Moto E is come with replaceable shells just like Moto G and some of the colours include lemon, green, blue, red, violet and white. These are sold at a 50% off from Flipkart for a limited time. The device was sold out within 16 hours of going on sale, selling more than 1 lakh units, though the stocks were replenished quickly and you can go ahead and order your white or black unit right away.
