It will forever be a story of how it was a disaster when Nokia tried to go the Android route. Nokia had announced the Nokia X series of devices which included the Nokia X, X+ and XL at the MWC in Barcelona and after the fuzz of excitement evaporated and the reality surfaced in addition to some fantastic offerings in the competing segments, it was not a very pretty picture for Nokia.
We played a bit with the Nokia X and while the initial plan was to pick the device, we did ended up coming back empty handed, because the phone was just not up to the quality you would expect in 2014. In case you missed out, here is why we did not pick up the Nokia X.
Nokia however, stood true to its words and brought the larger variant of the Nokia X in the form of Nokia XL. And although the device has pretty similar specs, there are some noticeable and much needed improvements. In the price range of Rs 10,000, the Nokia XL is not the most glamorous offering, though there is enough evidence based on a couple of days we have spent with the device, that perhaps the Nokia XL should have been the original Nokia X, with the original one being kept as a closet prototype. While there is still no Android Play Store or Google Ecosystem still, the overall performance of the phone is certainly a notch or two above the Nokia X.
Anyway, we will jot down our full review of the device by the end of the week, but before that, here is a tour around the device giving you a look at the Nokia XL and what you can expect to get from the device. We have the bright green variant for the review, and must say that the device looks strikingly bright and graceful.
