It has been a long suggested move that roaming be abolished in India and all the local, STD and roaming rates of calling be brought under the same airtime slab. However, one thing or the other, incoming and outgoing calls while on a roaming network seem to continue to be pricey in India and although some telecom operators like Airtel and Vodafone have offered packs to make the incoming calls free for a nominal amount, the solution is far from perfect.
However, Reliance Mobile has taken a step in helping solve this issue as they launch the ‘One India, One Rate’ whereby, no matter where you call to or call from, the slabs will remain exactly the same. As a result, you would be paying the Home circle calling rates, for both outgoing and incoming calls irrespective of the call. You would not be levied any charges on incoming calls any more either, if you subscribe the plans.
While RCom must improve its network performances in areas other than few parts of Maharashtra, this move certainly suggests that people at Reliance are listening to what the consumers want and we hope, soon the congestion in network would start easing up too. What this move would also do, is to trigger the competition effect on the other players such as Vodafone, Idea and Airtel, pushing them to come up with similar tariff plan for their existing customers.
The plan is available for both prepaid and postpaid users, the details for both of them can be found below:
