The lower budget segment is turning out to be some serious warzone for all the major smartphone manufacturers in India. The price category between Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 has seen a lot of new Android smartphones launched recently, all of which run Android 4.4 KitKat. In case you missed out, you can find our pick of top budget Android phones running Android 4.4 right here.
However, the lower budget segment of below Rs 5,000 has been resigned to being a segment where smartphones are not a common sight. This segment is still dominated by either very low spec’d smartphones and feature phones. However, Celkon is looking to change this and has introduced the Celkon Campus A35K which is a budget friendly device but runs the latest Android version 4.4 out of the box. Without a doubt this is the cheapest Android smartphone, to run KitKat 4.4.2. This is not the highest Android version currently and we would not be holding out for any future updates, but it certainly is a fantastic option for anyone who is looking to spend about Rs 3,000 on a phone. The phone does have Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth connectivity. The phone does take a leaf out of HTC’s book of designs here with a dual speaker like design.
The specifications on board are as expected not very good with the device boasting of a 3.5 inch display, 3.2 MP Rear Camera with a VGA front facing camera. The internal memory of the device is 512 MB with expansion slot for MicroSD. The phone is powered by a 1 GHz SoC and 256 MB of RAM. The A35K is a dual SIM smartphone. The device is available from Snapdeal, who are offering a Cash on Delivery as well as EMI schemes. You can expect the device to be available in the market soon too.
