BlackBerry has brought its first full touch device aimed at the budget conscious consumers to India. The BlackBerry Z3, called the Jakarta was launched in India today for Rs 15,500 after it received a good response in the Indonesian market. The device is available on pre-order at various E-Com portals as well as select Blackberry retail stores offline.
The specifications of the BlackBerry Z3 have been known for a while now with the device formally launching at MWC 2014 earlier this year. The device is the first to be made by Foxconn for the company and features a qHD display which is 5 inches when measured diagonally. The phone comes with the latest BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 out of the box which as a bonus is able to run Android apps out of the box. There is 2D maps as well as 3D turn by turn navigation that comes with the device. The camera on board is a 5 MP shooter on the back and a 1.1 MP sensor on the front for all your selfie and video calling needs.
Powering the device is a Snapdragon 400 dual core SoC with 1.5 GB of RAM. The device has a 2500 mAh battery that offers 16+ days worth of standby. In terms of connectivity, the phone has 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS as well as FM Radio. One of the glaring missing features though is that the device only offers a single SIM support. This is a bummer, especially as the phone will be competing against the likes of Motorola Moto G in the budget segment which support an active dual sim standby.
The device is expected to start shipping from July 2nd onwards and you can pre-book one from flipkart here
