HTC has announced the arrival of two new smartphones in it’s lineup of devices for India. The HTC One E8 and Desire 616 join the likes of HTC M8, Desire 816, M7 etc as some of the options that you can pick, in case you are in the market for an Android smartphone manufactured by HTC. HTC had globally announced the E8, which is a curvier and plastic version of the HTC M8 without the dual rear camera setup, last month while the Desire 616 is limited to the Asia region catering to the requirement of a dual sim budget smartphone.
One the specifications front, the One E8 will join the elite HTC One family and brings pretty much everything that the M8 has to offer in terms of internals. You have the same 5 inch 1080 P IPS panel with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with four Krait 400 CPU’s, all clocked at 2.5 GHz at the heart of the system. There is a 2 GB RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. The phone will ship with Android 4.4.2 out of the box and will run HTC’s Sense 6 UI. You have a 13 MP rear camera instead of the ultra pixel one, with an LED flash as well as a 5 MP front facing snapper. There is 4 GB of internal memory that can be expanded by inserting a Micro SD card. The phone is juiced by a 2600 mAh battery that is non user replaceable.
The Desire 616 on the other hand features a 5 inch 720 P display with a 1.4 GHz Ocata core SoC with 1 GB of RAM. Unlike the E8, the Desire 616 runs on dated Android version 4.2.2 with Sense 5.5. There is an 8 MP camera with a single LED flash as well as a 2 MP front facing camera with the host of connectivity options such as 3G, GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth etc. The device does have a memory expansion slot to add to its 4 GB of internal memory and has a 2,000 mAh battery at the heart of it. Unlike the boomsound speakers of the E8, the Desire 616 has rear firing speakers.
Pricing and Availability
The HTC E8 will be priced at Rs 34,900 and will be available towards the end of the month in four colors, namely, Maldives Blue, Misty Gray, Polar White and Electric Crimson. The Desire 616 on the other hand, will go on sale next week and will cost Rs 16,900 and will be available in dark gray and white colors.
