Facebook has been one of the leading propagators of the multi-app theory that is swarming across the tech world currently. With app releases like Slingshot, Instagram, Messenger, Facebook App, Paper etc, Facebook alone accounts for at least three to four apps on an average smartphone. Recently, in order to make its Messenger app, which basically allows you to have private chats with your Facebook friends, more popular, Facebook disabled the feature of checking your inbox right from the mobile apps. If you now want to check your messages, you all have to download the Facebook Messenger application. For most of us, using the Messenger app, this is not a problem, however for those who are on phone with low internal memory, downloading another application can be a matter of make or break.
One way around the whole situation is to ditch the Facebook app altogether and use the mobile site on your browser. This way, you can use all the features right on your smartphone without having to additionally download the Messenger app. However, if you do not want to do that or have reservations against the whole mobile app, which admittedly is not all that great, then there is a solution for you as long as you are on a jailbroken iPhone. Simply, follow the steps below to get the Facebook app to work exactly how it was, including the ability to check your messages right from within the applications.
Step 1: Ensure that you are on a jailbroken iPhone and click on the Cydia icon that lives on your springboard. If you do not have a Cydia icon, chances are you have not jailbroken your device properly, so do that first.
Step 2: Once you are in Cydia, under the sources tab, make sure you have the BigBoss repository installed.
Step 3: In the search bar now, search for FBNoNeedMessenger tweak, and install it.
Step 4: Once you have the tweak installed, make sure you restart your device as well as restart Facebook. The moment you do that, you will be able to see your messages pop up within the application, just the way they initially were, without a problem.
