Hey guys, Kunal here! It’s been a long time since I actually made a post here. I have been busy with a few projects. As far as TechSplurge is concerned, I mainly spend time managing other aspects (apart from making posts) of it. What’s keeping me busy? Well, I have been working on a startup called PathDoor which aims to promote affordable healthcare. Let me tell you why I thought of starting this project.
The most important parameter for judging a country’s true level of progress is the well-being of its people. Now, which sector do you think directly affects a country’s well being? Yes, it’s the healthcare sector, which encompasses both medical care as well as pro preventive care. However, you will be surprised to know that our county spends less than 3% of its GDP on this sector. Thus, the need of the hour is to invest in health care, increase the reach of health services, think of innovations and improve the quality and cost of care. What’s worse, the pathology lab sector is largely unorganized and various malpractices are prevalent which inflate the prices further.
I along with Ketan and Niharika, thought of setting up a portal where in people could compare and book lab tests online, from the comfort of their homes. Not just that, we also thought of making it cheaper for the patients to book lab tests by offering them discounts. Thus PathDoor was born!
The portal is in the form of a website and call to order telephone service which acts as an interface between various pathology labs and users/ patients.
How PathDoor Works?
We are currently providing our services in the whole of Bangalore and parts of Mumbai and Delhi.
A user can book lab tests, scans and health packages through us by either calling us on our customer care number or visiting our website. We provide sample collection both at home and at the lab.
At the lab: The user can show our confirmation message at the lab and avail a discount on the lab test he/she has booked.
At home: The user can get sample collected at home and avail the same discount. However, he has to pay an additional home collection fee which differs from lab to lab (lowest being Rs6 per Km).
- We have tie-ups with various path labs and offer blood and urine testing, radio diagnosis and health packages to patients at a discounted rate. They get the dual benefits of convenience and transparency.
- Knowing the test prices without physically visiting the lab
- Price comparison
- Getting connected to neighborhood labs
- Getting access to niche testing
- Availing fixed home service in case requiring repeated tests, such as Thyroid Function Test.
