Motorola has announced an array of devices in an event held at New Delhi today. Not only did we finally see the successor to the hugely popular Motorola Moto X and Moto G, but also the Moto 360, the Android Wear smartwatch that the world has been drooling after. There were a few accessories on show too, including the new Micro Power bank and a Bluetooth enabled Earbud called Moto Hint. However, the stars of the show were no doubt the two smartphones and the smartwatch, so lets look at them in detail:
The new Motorola Moto X
The new Motorola Moto X, previously dubbed the Motorola Moto X+1 in the build up to the event is cut from the same cloth in terms of design and aesthetics as the Motorola Moto E that Motorola had announced a couple of months ago. However, the similarities end right there and the phone is an absolute brick of raw power. The Moto X features a 5.2 inch AMOLED display with 1080 P resolution. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and has the Snapdragon 801 SoC, with all the four CPUs clocked at 2.5 GHz. You get 2 GB of RAM and an internal memory of 16 or 32 GB. The battery on board is a 2300 mAh while the rear camera is a 13 MP unit with the front facing unit being 2 MP. There is a metallic frame on the outside, and you have an option of picking between 25 back panels including leather and wood finishes.
The smartphone is priced at $499.99 off contract and will be available in Asia, Europe and parts of America later this month. In India, the device will continue to remain a Flipkart exclusive, though we have no idea about the pricing of the phone yet.
The new Motorola Moto G
Motorola Moto G redefined the perception we used to have of budget smartphones. It was the phone that lead the revolution in the budget segment of the smartphone and we saw the likes of Asus Zenfone 5, Xiaomi Mi3 among others present the consumers with terrific options. The new Motorola Moto G is an upgrade to the Moto G in pretty much every aspect. The phone features a 5 inch 720 P display and has a Snapdragon 400 SoC at the heart of it. You have 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The camera on board is an 8 MP unit on the rear of the device and 2 MP on the front. Just like the new Moto X, it features front facing dual speakers and comes with interchangeable back panels which will be sold separately on Flipkart, which remains the exclusive retail partners of Motorola in India for the two devices. The device will come in two colors- black and white and will have a 2070 mAh battery.
The new Motorola Moto G will go on sale starting tonight at the midnight hour for Rs 12,999 for the 16 GB variant. This is a Dual SIM variant of the phone and supports 3G.
The Motorola Moto 360 is expected to arrive in India later this month without any committed date on Flipkart. The leather strap variant of the watch will retail at $249.99 which is approximately Rs 15,000 in India while the steel or gold band variants will cost you $299.99 though the Indian prices of the watches are not confirmed just yet.
