HTC has announced two new smartphones for its budget cautious customers in India. The Desire 820 is the successor to the HTC 816, which is one of the better selling HTC devices in the market today. HTC also announced the Desire 816G, which is the dual SIM variant of the Desire 816.
In terms of plain looks, the two devices are fairly similar, yet the specifications have a fair bit of a difference between them. In terms of things that are common, both the devices have the front facing Boomsound speakers as well as a 5.5 inch display with 720 P resolution, giving them a PPI of 267. The two devices have Android KitKat 4.4.2 on board with Sense 6 running on top of it, which brings several add ons such as Blinkfeed, HTC Zoe etc which have been well appreciated on higher end devices such as the HTC M8.

The HTC Desire 820 will sell in two variants in India, namely, the Desire 820 and Desire 820q. The difference between the two is that, the Desire 820 will come with Snapdragon 615 SoC out of the box while, Desire 820q will sport Snapdragon 410 SoC, both of which are built on 64 bit architecture. Both the devices, will come with LTE Cat 4 support out of the box, so you should not have much trouble running LTE in India. The Desire 820 and 820q, both have an 8 MP front facing cameras, while the rear shooter is a 13 MP unit with f/2.2 aperture.
The Desire 816G, just like the Desire 820 has a 5 MP front facing camera and a 13 MP rear camera with support for 1080P recording. All the three devices announced are dual SIM devices. Both, the Desire 820 and 816G devices have identical 2600 mAh non removable battery. The Desire 816G has 8 GB internal memory and 1 GB RAM, while the Desire 820 has 16 GB ROM and 2 GB ROM. The Desire 820q on the other hand has 16 GB ROM and 1 GB RAM. All the devices do support expansion via Micro SD.
Just like the Desire 816, the Desire 820 will be available in plenty of color choices. You can pick the phone in any of the- Marble White, Tuxedo Grey, Santorini White, Milky-way Grey, Tangerine White, Saffron Grey, Flamingo Grey, Blue Mist, or Monarch Orange variants. The Desire 816G will be available starting Rs 18,990 while the price for the Desire 820 will be revealed closer to its release, which is expected to be around the festive season.
