We had recently reviewed the OnePlus One, which runs CyanogenMod 11s out of the box. One of the features we absolutely loved about the device was the fact that you could virtually change the entire software skin of the OnePlus One thanks to third party themes available. While a lot of these themes were inspired from Android skins from various OEMs, be it stock Android 5.0 Lollipop, TouchWiz or LG’s UI, there actually exist a lot of themes in the CyanogenMod’s Theme Store which are thought from and designed from ground up. These allow you to customize every aspect of the device, right from the navigation keys to the wallpaper to the font type.
Taking the whole concept a step beyond, CyanogenMod is now inviting developers to participate in a theming challenge. Here, the developers simply have to work on a theme from the ground up and submit them to the Theme Studio currently as CyanogenMod gets set to release an all improved and new Themes Studio.
The themes, when submitted will be judged upon by a jury, based on the creativity and uniqueness of design, artistic expression and visual effects, and completeness of required design elements. The winning three designers will win branded CyanogenMod goodies as well as one of the two devices which would be on offer. Not just this, the themers will also find their themes coming pre-installed on the CyanogenMod 11s devices, via the new Theme Studio starting from the Micromax Yu device which is slated for a December launch.
So, if you are ready with the design of your CyanogenMod theme and feel, you have what is the best theme, go ahead and upload the same to the Theme Studio right here. The deadline of submission is December 14th at 5 PM PST, while the winner declaration will happen towards the end of December.
You can also find all the contest rules, in case you are not sure of them right here.
