Display quality, premium build quality of devices, LTE connectivity, huge battery life and now the focus of every other OEM is on making sure their devices are paper thin. You may say it is a classic case of misplaced priorities but the new race is definitely the race to the slimmest. We have seen the likes of Gionee with their Elife S 5.1 and Oppo with the R5 go neck to neck in order to bring home the record of the slimmest phone, but both the Chinese players have been beaten by Vivo who announced the X5 Max in India today and took the crown away.
The Vivo X5 Max measures crazy thin at 4.75 mm and is good .10 mm thinner than the Oppo R5. Unlike the Oppo device, the X5 includes all the requisite ports such as the 3.5 mm headset jack. The phone will sell in the offline retail stores starting Monday for a price of Rs 32,980, though you can expect it to be available for slightly cheaper. We are not sure about the availability of the device on the E-Com portals, though it is expected that most of the big name players will have it in stock.
In terms of specifications, the device will run a 64 bit Snapdragon 615 Octa Core chip with 2 GB of RAM on board. The screen on the X5 max measures 5.5 inch with True HD resolution. What is amazing about the screen is that it measures only 1.36 mm in thickness. The Vivo X5 Max will sport two camera sensors: a 5 MP front facing unit and a 13 MP rear camera. The Vivo X5 Max runs Vivo’s own Funtouch OS 2.0 which resembles the likes of MIUI and Amigo UI. The device will be launched with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box. The Vivo X5 Max comes with 16 GB of internal memory and an expansion slot via Micro SD. The device is a dual SIM
The device is a dual SIM phone with support for LTE on both the Micro and Nano SIM cards.
