HTC recently updated the HTC One M8 to Lollipop. The update came in on February 2nd, which was bang on the mark when it comes to the 90 day period they asked for releasing the update. And while HTC was not the first with the update, it could be argued that HTC has done perhaps the best when it comes to working with Android 5.0 and integrating the same with Sense 6.0. HTC has kept the UI of Sense pretty much as it was and has added the goodness of Lollipop such as in reworked Notification dropdown, new animations as well as a redesigned lockscreen and notifications.
While the learning curve is not all that steep, there are a few things that took a bit of figuring out, and one such thing was how to hide the sensitive information of notifications from the lockscreen. You definitely do not want your text messages preview or E-Mail previews to be visible on the lockscreen, and you can use the following steps to ensure your lockscreen as well as the device are well protected.
Go into the Settings of your device by clicking on the Settings app.
Click on Security under Personal Settings.
Click on Screen Lock under Screen Security.
Select the type of security you wish to use for your lockscreen so that your device and the content in it is safe. Let us pick Pattern lock for example here. Once you will do that, you will have to confirm the pattern by drawing the same twice.
After recording the pattern of your device, you will see settings for how do you wish to see the notifications on your lock screen. Here you need to choose the second option, which is Hide sensitive notification content so that you do get lockscreen notification, but the content is hidden away. You can also choose to not show any notification at all or to show the entire notification content.
That is it, it’s really that simple to hide away the sensitive notification from your HTC M8. In case you have any query in the method described above, please write in, to us in the comments section below.
