Whatsapp earlier this month had introduced calling facility to its application. This meant that you will be no more limited to just sending across IM, pictures, videos or voice messages to your friends with the functionality of calling, daring to replace the normal airtime calling. If you are on a 3G connection or connected to WiFi you can use the service to call people with Whatsapp Calling for absolutely free. In our brief period of testing the feature, the call quality was not all that great and we still prefer options like a Hangouts Audio call or a simple Facetime Audio to connect to the people. However, it is an interesting option and one you are sure will only improve.
Getting the calling feature though, is not so simple. In fact, you will be depending directly on a friend who has Whatsapp calling to help you out to gain the feature. But before that, make sure you follow the following steps to ensure you get Whatsapp calling working.
Make sure you download the latest Build of Whatsapp from Whatsapp’s blog on your Android phone. In case you are not sure from where to get it, you need to head over to this page. You will not have to make sure that the version downloaded is 2.11.531 or above. Once you have the application downloaded, just install it on your device replacing the previous version of Whatspp, so that none of your chats are lost or misplaced.

After installing the latest version on your device, you will need a friend who has Whatsapp calling feature activated. Simply ask him to call you from his Whatsapp which would automatically enable Whatsapp calling on your application.
Once you have the feature, you can go on and call your friends too provided they have the latest Build so they can enjoy the feature too. The feature is yet to roll out in the iOS version, so if you are on an iPhone, hard luck.
