Facebook Messenger has always been a convenient messenger application that users have resorted to when in need to chat with their friends. The fact that Facebook recently made a Messenger application and cut the feature off from the Facebook mobile app indicated that Facebook has big plans for Messenger and they plan to do a lot more with it than just making it an IM client.
One of the first steps in this regard has been introduction of the ability to send money to your friends directly via the messenger. Facebook announced in a blog post that the feature will roll out in the coming week in the US first and will be absolutely free, where you can simply make payment to your friends right from within the perimeter of your chat screen.
Facebook also explained the procedure on how you can send or receive the money from your friends on their post. Quoting them:
To send money:
- Start a message with a friend
- Tap the $ icon and enter the amount you want to send
- Tap Pay in the top right and add your debit card to send money
To receive money:
Open the conversation from your friend
Tap Add Card in the message and add your debit card to accept money for the first time
It would take up to three business days for the money to be reflected in your personal accounts. Since the feature will be a US only for the time being, we keenly await when the feature will roll out in India and how would it be implemented.
