Motorola has today announced the next smartphone in their lineup, the Moto X Play, exclusively on Flipkart. The launch of the phone comes a month after the launch of the Moto G 3rd Gen, a phone that has again managed to recreate the magic just like the first generation. The Moto X Play brings a lot to the table and has entered into an already saturated segment in the market.
Let’s look at the phones the Moto X Play has to go up against to make its mark in the market.
Xiaomi Mi4i
The Xiaomi Mi4i was the phone that has been giving the other phones in the segment a really hard time. Like the other Xiaomi devices the Mi 4i is selling at a low price of Rs. 12,999 for the 16GB model whereas Rs. 14,999 for the 32GB model. The phone sports the same processor like the Moto X Play and has 2GB of RAM. In terms of software the device runs MIUI on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The phone has a 5 inch display and is smaller in comparison to the Motorola but surprisingly Xiaomi has managed to cram in a 3030mAh battery. The phone has a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP camera at the front, Xiaomi also has a few features in the camera app. The phones comes with 4 color options so users have the a wide range of options to choose from.
Samsung Galaxy J7
The Galaxy J7 is a smartphone from the Korean giant Samsung. The J7 was launched as a Flipkart exclusive device and was priced very well. The Galaxy J7 also sports the Snapdragon 615 and has 1.5GB of RAM. The device has a 13 megapixel camera at the back and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. The phone is well made and is among the rare phones that Samsung has priced appropriately. The device loses the spec battle as the competition comes with better cameras and more RAM but where is gains in the reputation the brand has built over the years. For users hell bent on buying a Samsung phone, the J7 offers good value than any of their other devices in that price range.
Asus Zenfone 2
The Zenfone 2 is the first smartphone in the world to have 4GB of RAM and is priced under Rs 20,000. The RAM isn’t the only thing going for the phone, it has a 64 Bit Intel Quad Core Processor clocked at 2.3GHz and has a big 5.5 inch display. The big screen helps the phone pack in a 3000mAh battery that should help it last a day without any hassles. The Moto X Play gets an advantage here due to the slightly bigger 3630mAh battery. The Zenfone 2 has a 13 megapixel camera with Asus’s PixelMaster Technology that is capable of clicking good images in the dark. The phone has a 5 megapixel camera at the front for good selfies. The phone has the Asus ZenUI on top of Android Lollipop which has lots of customizations including custom gestures. The Zenfone 2 is a Dual SIM device which is Dual SIM Dual Active which means that both the SIM card slots are active at all times. That’s not all the device is a 4G enabled device and supports 4G on both the SIM slots.
HTC Desire 826
The Desire 826 is among the rare phones by HTC to have a Snapdragon 615 Processor while almost the entire lineup has slowly shifted to the MediaTek chips. The 826 can be treated as a successor to the Desire 820 and the Desire 816 which proved that 5.5 inch phones with good performance for the price sell well. The phone has stereo BoomSound speakers that provide a good audio experience makes it a good buy for people who like listening to music on their phones. The phone has 16GB of internal storage and a MicroSD card slot that accepts cards up to 128GB. The device gets a 2600mAh battery that is the smallest of the list here. The UI is HTC’s SenseUI on top on Android Lollipop and the interface is among the best implementation of a third party UI.
