OnePlus dropped a major disappointment with the OnePlus Two earlier in the year. Plagued by a slightly unstable software along with the usual supply chain issues leading to the invite outrage, OnePlus was forced to offer an apology and admit that they let their fans down with the OnePlus Two. What better way to show that you have learnt your lesson than to come out with a champion new product that would bring the wow factor back? And it looks like that is precisely what OnePlus is doing with the OnePlus X set for a launch globally tomorrow, i.e. October 29th.
It was in news even before the OnePlus Two was out that OnePlus would be bringing two new phones this year and thus the OnePlus X doesn’t come as a big surprise to any of us. Here is what we know about the device so far:
The phone is expected to come at a price point of 1,699 Yuan, which roughly translates to about Rs 17,000 making the phone fit very well in the mid budget segment in the market. If this price is true, the OnePlus X would be competing against the likes of Moto X Play, Xiaomi Mi 4 and the old OnePlus One. The price comes from a poster that was shared by the folks at MyDrivers.
A Dual SIM configuration
If you look at the poster closely of the phone that is leaked, the phone clearly shows two network bars, confirming that it supports a Dual SIM. Not just that, it clearly states 4G which gives us an important hint that the phone will come with 4G LTE support. At Rs 17,000 price point, neither of these two features are anything groundbreaking, but it is good to know that OnePlus has not decided to cut any corners here.
A new software Skin?
If the phone shown in the poster above is real, then we are in for some new software push on the OnePlus X too. The lockscreen as well as well as the icons in the notification bar look distinctively different from that of the OnePlus 2. However, with no news on a new software in works despite several complains against Oxygen OS, it makes us a little skeptical about this.
It is clear as day light that the OnePlus X is going to be a mini variant of the OnePlus 2. On the specs front, it is a widespread news that the phone will come with a 5 inch 1080 P LCD panel and have Snapdragon 801 under the hood. At places, it has also been mentioned that instead of Snapdragon 801, OnePlus One may decide to go with Helio X10 chipset. The RAM is expected to be 2 GB on board with 16 GB ROM and an expansion slot for a Micro SD card. The camera is expected to be 13 MP while the battery is rumoured to be around 3000 mAh with quick charge.
That is pretty much a round up of the things that are known about the new sensation that you feel the OnePlus X would be post its launch tomorrow. So far, there is no information of any kind of livestream for the event, but we are hoping one to pop up sometime soon. Once it does, we will update this post so that you can follow the launch along.
