After keeping everyone waiting for a good over 3 months of so, Samsung has rolled out the update to Android Marshmallow for the Galaxy S6 owners. The update has been made available from today morning itself and coincides with the day on which Samsung also made their latest flagship, the Galaxy S7 available for sale in India. In size, the update for Marshmallow on the Galaxy S7 is just a shade above 1.2 GB mark. It is therefore adviced to update your phone when connected to a Wi-Fi as well as the charger.
The update will bring a host of interesting Marshmallow features such as Doze, Permissions Manager, Tap on Now, a new inbuilt File Manager as well as a revamped notifications pull down. In our brief minutes with the Galaxy S6, the update definitely has changed the fonts too in the Notifications shade, though we did prefer the older fonts. The Notifications shade has been made whiter, so if you like to use your phone at night a lot, you may want to dim down the intensity of the display.
Post the update, it does take a while for the phone to restart so you may want to remain really patient. Ideally, you may also want to clear the data on your phone and format it after you have updated the device for a smooth operation.
