Apple has finally launched the much awaited iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The next generation smartphones come with some outstanding improvements and brand new features. The primary among them are enhanced camera hardware, more powerful processor, waterproofing, fresh color options, etc. The Cupertino-based tech giant has priced the base variant of the iPhone 7 at $649 and the iPhone 7 Plus at $749.
iOS 10 will be at the helm of the latest handsets. The brand new iPhone 7 line-up boasts a further integrated SIRI along with upgraded Artificial Intelligence. Apple has redesigned the Map in the new iOS version. The new generation iPhones comes with a distinctive force touch-enabled home button. It sports the same TouchID fingerprint sensor along with a new notification feedback mechanism. Even third-party applications can gain access to the new system which will allow them to give physical feedback of notifications to the users.
The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are completely resistant to damages from dust and liquids. The phones officially bear the IP67 certificate, which means, you can easily use them under heavy rain or during swimming. They are the very first water resistant iPhones.
One of the major areas where the latest iPhones vastly outshine its predecessors is the camera department. The iPhone 7 sports a single 12 MP shooter with some notable improvements. The new camera sports a high-speed sensor which can capture images up to 60 percent faster than the previous iPhone while being 30 percent power efficient. The camera module is constructed with six pieces of lens and has a wide f/1.8 aperture size for better low light capabilities.
The iPhone 7 Plus, on the other hand, comes with a brand new dual camera module with two 12 MP shooters. One of the cameras is the same as that of the iPhone 7 while the other is a 56 mm telephoto lens. The two lens combination allows 2X optical zoom with up to 10X digital zooming. The dual camera arrangement enhances the depth of field of the photos resulting in DSL-R like image quality.
There is a new Quad LED flash in both the devices. The four LED, dual tone flash, boasts 50 percent brighter illuminating capacity. Apple has roped in a hugely improved in-house designed ISP (Image Signal Processor) in each of the latest iPhones. For the first time, you can capture RAW images with your Apple iPhone. Optical Image Stabilization is present both in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Apple has also boosted the selfie shooter of the newest iPhones. A 7 MP FaceTime camera equipped with Auto Image Stabilization is now present at the front of each smartphone. The Live Photo feature is now further improved with the inclusion of video image stabilization. The Cupertino Giant has also added an advanced flicker detecting system which adjusts the photographs depending on the situation.
A new Retina HD display sits at the front of each new iPhone. The smaller iPhone 7 comes with a 4.7-inch display, while the larger iPhone 7 Plus gets a 5.5-inch one. The display resolutions remain exactly same as the previous iPhone 6S family. However, the latest screens are about 25 percent brighter than their predecessors. A new dual domain pixel technology makes spectacular viewing angles. The new generation iPhones brags a Wide Colour Display with exceptional color gamut.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus sports the latest A10 Fusion Chip. The-bit quad-core SoC is designed by Apple and manufactured by TSMC. The Cupertino-based company claims that it is twice as fast as the A8 processors. The graphics demand is substantially upgraded to offer thrice the performance of iPhone 6 in spite of requiring just half the power.
Coming to the battery department, the new iPhones offer modest improvements. The iPhone 7 last up to two hours longer than the previous iPhone 6S and the iPhone 7 Plus has about hour more battery life than the iPhone 6S Plus.
Apple has brought a substantial change to the iPhone 7 series by ditching the 3.5 mm audio port altogether. Instead, the company wants you to use the lightning port for music output. However, considering the lack of compatibility of the new system, the company will be packing an extra 3.5 mm to lightning port adapter alongside each of the latest iPhones.
From this time onwards, we may not see the 16 GB iPhone anymore as Apple has made 32 GB as the base variant of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The company even announced that it would also upgrade the storage options of its previous iPhone 6S series to 32 GB and 128 GB.
The iPhone 7 will be sold for $649, and the iPhone 7 Plus will cost you $749. These are the same amount as the launch price of the iPhone 6S family. In fact, considering the storage upgrades, Apple has basically made them cheaper. This year’s iPhones will be available in five color variants – Gold, Rose Gold, Matt Black, Silver and a shiny new Jet Black. Apple will sell three storage capacities – 32 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. 32 GB Jet Black model will not be available.
