When Enix planned to launch their action-packed role-playing game, Final Fantasy XV, they would’ve expected to earn more than a few billion. Which isn’t surprising, considering that many of their other productions including Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts have sold over 10 million copies.
What they (and we) wouldn’t have expected tech giant Sony to launch a limited edition walkman to commemorate the launch of the open world fantasy game. Sony Japan has announced a Final Fantasy XV Edition A-Series Walkman, complete with high-resolution audio and special icons. Perhaps they assumed the fans of the franchise would pick up a walkman while switching weapons in between camping fights?
Apart from the minute difference in the icons in the limited edition, on its back, Sony’s new Walkman has few pixel artworks of the characters in the gaming franchise.
The new 16 GB model Walkman comes with a price tag of 33,880 Yen, which is about 300 US dollars.
Wait, there’s more than a Walkman.
As if a special edition Walkman wouldn’t do the trick, Sony is also launching a hear.on MDR-100A headphones and hear.go SRS-HG1 Bluetooth speakers branded by the Final Fantasy XV theme. While the headphones are priced at 24,380 Yen ($220 approximately), the speaker costs 29,380 Yen ($260 approximately).
When and where?
If you’re all ready to shatter your piggy bank for these limited goods, be warned. All three products are exclusive to Sony Stores in Japan.
