Don’t you hate it when you’re in the middle of a super-exciting episode of The Crown and you have to just leave? For work, for school, or for a plane — it doesn’t matter where you’re headed, it always breaks our hearts to pause Netflix in between a show.
Well, it looks like Netflix heard our prayers and wishes. It seemed like Christmas had come early in the Netflix blog when they made the big announcement that users can now download their favorite shows and watch them offline.
“Many of your favorite streaming series and movies are already available for download, with more on the way, so there is plenty of content available for those times when you are offline.”
Said Eddy Wu, the Director of Product Innovation.
What’s the catch?
None, apparently. You can download Netflix shows and watch them offline for free. No secret charges apply.
But really, what’s the catch?
Ok, get this: Not all shows are available for download. In their blog, Netflix makes special mentions of Orange is The New Black, Narcos, and The Crown. All of them are available for download.
However, Netflix kept silent as to the video quality, the download speed, and the amount of space it would take up on your device. All those details, we’ll know once the download starts.
What you need, tech wise.
Netflix is pretty generous, and they’ve included the download and watch offline feature in all their plans for all devices running Android and iOS.
Make sure you’ve updated your Netflix app to the latest version and you can start downloading right away.
If you have any questions about the new feature (we doubt you do, though) you can always find answers on their Help Center.
