Viber is on a roll. After announcing Public Accounts a few months ago, the company has just rolled out a new update with three new features: video calling, new emoticons, and chat extensions. Oh, also, you can now add up to 250 users in a group.
Sending photos and videos to your contacts is an old concept. What’s new, though, is that you can now record and instantly send 30-second videos to your friends and family. Just press and hold the instant video option at the bottom of the screen and a circular preview will show up. Your video will be recorded and when you let go of your finger the video is sent automatically. You can cancel the video, too. Just swipe from right to left to cancel the video. Your contacts will see the video as soon as they open up Viber.
So now you have all new chat extensions to make conversations even easier. These extensions let you share Wikipedia articles, GIFs, movie details, and even stickers from external apps without having to leave Viber. Tap the @ icon near the bottom of your screen and a list of built-in sources like Giphy, Wikipedia, and TheMovieDB will pop up. Select your source and then a piece of content you want to share.
And if you’re using a newer iPhone, you’ll have the 3D touch experience as well. Press a thumbnail and you can preview your content before sharing it through an extension app.
You can download the free app from iTunes.
