BSNL Launches Email Services in 8 Indian Languages with DataMail

BSNL has announced email services in 8 Indian languages. So you can now open email accounts in your own language. DataMail, the app that provides this service, is free to download from the App Store and Play Store.


In a statement,

Mr. N. K Gupta, the Director CFA of BSNL had this to say,

“The linguistic email service offered by BSNL will have डाटावन.भारत (DataOne.Bharat) domain and email address will be offered in eight regional languages including Hindi (हिन्दी), Gujarati (ગુજરાતી), Urdu (اردو), Punjabi (ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ), Tamil (தமிழ்), Telugu (తెలుగు), Bengali (বাংলা) and Marathi (मराठी).”

The government had launched the domain to cover the larger 70% of India’s population living in rural areas. And with this new service, BSNL has expanded to cover those areas as well, fulfilling the dream of digital India.

Speaking about the announcement,

“Our fully “Made in India” software product enabling DataMail service is a revolution in the world as many countries are waiting to inject the linguistic email address to empower the non-English speakers of the world. Catering to the larger audience.

2016’s most-spoken languages in India are Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Punjabi, and Assamese. And the total number of people speaking these languages amount to about 1147.95 million. With BSNL’s regional languages email program, the majority of India will now get the digital benefit.

Using the service:

BSNL broadband customers can use the service through the DataMail app.

  1. Select the language in which you want your email address.
  2. Add your mobile number.
  3. Select ‘I am a BSNL broadband Customer.’
  4. Add your BSNL broadband number with STD code. You will get an OTP on your mobile number.
  5. Enter the OTP and type an email address you prefer.

Start emailing in your own language.
