We’re in the digital age, which means anything we can do without actually speaking to another human being is a major plus point – especially when it comes to ordering a takeaway. Long gone are the days where you needed a takeaway drawer full of menus, had to phone in complicated orders (with items you couldn’t pronounce) in hope that the person on the other end of the phone had got everything on your list and, of course, you had to inconveniently pay cash on arrival. Half the time it was easier just to cook dinner instead.
These days, takeaway food apps are making it incredibly easy for those of us who don’t have the time to cook, as well as anyone who just hates cooking, to get a delicious dinner delivered straight to your door.
hungryhouse is a popular UK delivery app available on both iOS and Android. Once you’ve downloaded the app you need to register your details, which isn’t a long process and will only take you about a minute to complete. Then you simply put in a postcode and hungryhouse will present a selection of restaurants in your area that will deliver to your address. From here you can filter your results by price, distance and cuisine, which is really useful if you know exactly what you want to eat and don’t fancy scrolling through too many other restaurants.
Beside each restaurant you will find reviews from real customers with a star rating out of 5. It will also tell you how many people have reviewed a particular restaurant, while also allowing you to browse through reviews. As well as a great gauge on quality, these comments can be equally as useful for finding out a restaurant’s star dishes as reviewers will often mention the best dishes on the menu in their feedback. Reviews will also advise on delivery time and customer service, which is especially important if you like to get your food fast.
One of the huge advantages of this app is the large number of cuisines available. As well as typical takeaway favourites like pizzas, kebabs and Chinese food, you’ll also find Mexican, organic and vegetarian options (among many more) to choose from too.
For those of you who like to order in advance, the app will allow you to pre-order food from a restaurant for later – even if the restaurant isn’t open yet. This means you could order your dinner while on the train home from work knowing that your dinner will be delivered not long after you get home.
Once you’ve chosen your meal, simply place the order with the restaurant. The app will give you the option to pay by card, account balance, PayPal or to pay by cash on the door. The fact that so many payment options are available makes hungryhouse even more convenient.
Overall, the hungryhouse app is simple to use, has a nice interface and makes ordering takeaway so easy that you might just be tempted to use it every night of the week!
