Planning your next vacation just got so much easier. Google Maps has a handy new feature that lets you save a list of your places on your Google Maps account. And, sure, you can share it with your friends, too via text, email, social media, and other popular messaging apps.
So the next time you spot a place you think you should check out, just save it on your account and you can recommend it later when you’re out and about with a bunch of friends. Your friends and family can share their lists with you so you can plan your places accordingly. The feature is now available on the Google Maps app for iOS and Android.

Speaking about an issue we all face, Zach Maier, the Product Manager of Google Maps, says so in a blog post:
“Have you ever promised out-of-town guests an email full of your favorite spots, only to never get around to clicking send? Create lists of places, share your lists with others, and follow the lists your friends and family share with you.”
A list of your places.
- Open the Google Maps app and locate any of your favourite places.
- Tap on the place and click on the “Save” icon. This will save your place to a default list like “Want to go” or “Favourites.”
- If you want to save the place in another list, you can “Create a list” and save it on there.
Finding your list.
All your lists will be displayed under Your Places in the side menu. Just click on your list and the map will show up with little icons on all your places.
Following lists.
Once you’ve shared a list with your friends, they can always find it under the “Your Places” section on their app. They can also “Follow” you list so that whenever you add new places, they can see it too.
And the best part?
You can see all of your lists on any mobile or desktop device, even if you’re offline. And if you’ve downloaded offline areas, things just get even easier.
