I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m annoyed that Facebook will autoplay audio and videos as I scroll through my feed. The social media giant announced last week that soon, users will have no control over the videos showing up on their Facebook feeds; they will play automatically whether users like it or not. It’s not the worst thing Facebook can do to its users, but it still is aggravating. Thankfully, the internet is full of people who solve problems just like this one. Eloston, for instance, came up with a handy Chrome extension called, Disable HTML5 Autoplay.
Disable HTML5 Autoplay
The extension does exactly what it suggests. It lets you block audio and videos from playing automatically. And the best part is that it works not only on Facebook, but across every website you visit. The plugin is currently available for Chrome and Opera, but according to its developer, it’ll soon come to Firefox as well.
