When it comes to expanding the storage capacity on your phone, no matter how much space you have, it’s seldom enough. And that’s why you need a proper flash drive. OLALA has a few of those and they’re all solid and long-lasting. We’ve even reviewed the previous model here. Now, though, OLALA has come up with another new model, the iDisk. It’s another lightning connector with the model number ID300.
Made for Apple.
The key attraction for all of OLALA’s devices is that they’re made for Apple. They are an authorized manufacturer, and so you can be sure that your phone is in good hands.
What’s new with this one?
Well, the shape, for one, looks better. And smaller. The flash disk comes with an aluminium cover that you can flip on either side or leave it at the center. And unlike the previous model, this one has no plastic anywhere on the device. The all-metal body makes for a glossier and fancier finish as well.
Most importantly, the lightning port is 2mm longer so that you can easily plug in and plug out the connector. This was a problem with the previous model where it wasn’t as seamless to plug in the disk. OLALA has rectified the issue on the ID300.
The iDisk experience.
If you had looked at the glossy outside redesign and hoped for the same on the inside, you’re in for some disappointment. The software experience on the ID300 is the same as the one on the previous model.
The app, a recap.
In our featured post about the previous model of OLALA’s memory disk, we outlined how you can use the app to transfer files to and from your flash drive.
As soon as you plug the ID300 in your iPhone, you’ll get a promo asking you to download the iDisk Me app. Once installed, you can can transfer your files easily. The app also lets you protect your files with passwords and built-in previews for media so you can see the files on your app before you download them onto your phone.
Best uses for the OLALA ID300.
If you’re a photographer enthusiast who has more photos that contacts on your phone, this flash disk might be a good investment for you. Or if you need to transfer a bunch of heavy files and documents from your laptop to your phone and vice versa, you can go for the ID300. You can use it just as a regular flash drive, too. Except that it’s be a rather expensive one.
The OLALA iDisk ID300 comes in two versions: the 32GB version and the 64GB version. And both of these versions are available in grey, rose gold, or silver. Both versions are available on Amazon where the 32 GB version is priced at $38.99 and the 64GB version at $48.99.
