Viber is coming up with more features to make messaging and chatting secret than ever. Having released Secret Messages back in February, Viber has now released Secret Chats.
Secret Messages VS Secret Conversations VS Secret Chats
The secretive messages feature lets you define a specific time period in which your posts, videos, and messages are available once your friend (or any recipient) opens your message. Once the time period ends, the messages will be deleted automatically and your friends won’t be able to retrieve it.
As for Secret Conversations, they let you put a timer on individual messages, so they delete automatically.
Secret Chats, however, takes secrecy to a new level. Using end-to-end encryption technology, Viber has disabled forwarding of secret chats, and you can also set timers for individual messages and chats. Once the timer ends, the messages will be deleted. Apart from end-to-end encryption, Secret Chats also allow you to protect your messages with a PIN code. But that’s not all; Secret Chats also let you set up notifications for when your friend (or any recipient) takes a screenshot of your messages. And if you’re using an Android phone, it you can disable screenshots altogether.
Get started
To begin a new Secret Chat, tap on the button named New secret chat. You’ll then be able to set the timer for the message. Once you’ve done that, you can start chatting as always.
New changes to the app
Along with this new feature, the company has released its Viber 6.7 for iPhone update with some more cool abilities. You can now attach any of the Viber stickers onto your photos, and even doodle on your photos before you share with friends.
New changes to the desktop
The desktop app got an update last week with a new sharing menu that makes it easier to send messages and other media. You now get to share files upto 200 megabytes worth of stickers, emoticons, web articles, voice recordings, and even GIFs.
With 800 million users and a growing user base in Asia and Northern Africa, Viber shows signs of a promising growth. You can download the iOS app here and the Android app here.
