For almost all the mobile OS present around, website URLs can be pushed to the phone using a 3rd party application over the internet such as Chrome to Phone for android etc. But sending text chunks directly without a data connection is not possible. The easiest way I knew till now was to save it in a file and then transfer it to my phone; not being an quick one.
GrabText, a small extension for google chrome does this job of sending text to your phone in 3 quick steps:
- Select the text you wish to send (250 characters at max)
- Click on the GrabText icon present in the toolbar, it will generate a QR code
- Scan the code on your phone!
I don’t have much idea about QR code scanners for iOS and other mobile OS but for Android, Barcode Scanner is an app that I like using for this purpose.
It could be useful in cases when you do not have any data connection. A good example would be my case. I’m currently living in an area where internet connectivity is pathetic, blame the terrain for it.
