It’s IPL time in Cricketing world! As the tournament progresses, the matches get exciting and the atmosphere heats up. It’s hard to keep up with the matches if you are a working person or a student who has to deal with the college/studies. Either you got to miss your work or the match.
Wouldn’t it be great if there was a mid way? In comes the role of Apps on the smartphones. You can keep track of the score, schedules, rankings, fixtures, etc.
I came across an app called PlayUp, which not only covers Cricket (IPL) but also covers 8 other sports. While there are many apps that provide this functionality, what sets PlayUp apart is, it tries to socialize sports, connecting all the live events to you and your friends.
Miss the good old days when you used to hang out with friends for a Match? PlayUp tries it’s bit to make up for it by allowing you to instantly create private or public hangouts and message one another in real time around the action.
It’s the first mobile based global social community for sport fans. It intends to revolutionize the whole Game-watching experience. It’s like hanging out with your buddies for a Game, when you are actually miles apart.
PlayUp claims to serves up live scores and key stats for 23,000+ live games each year, that’s equal to covering 50 leagues across the 9 major sports in the world.
Not just the International games, but even national leagues are covered, be it Premier League or the FA Cup. You get detailed week by week analysis, scorecards and fixtures.
It lets you Customize the sport preferences and have the favorite sport/match starred, so that you can access them quickly. Feel opinionated about something? It lets you Browse/join public discussions. Not just this, it lets you make new friends, find people with similar interests, supporters of the same team. Cool, isn’t it?
The interface is pretty easy to use and navigate; Had no issues with it on my iPhone 4S, however it’s Android version seems to be a bit sluggish while scrolling on our Galaxy S II. This scrolling lag gets pretty frustrating at times when scrolling through comments and this should be fixed as soon as possible.
Most importantly it’s available on the App Store and Google Play Store for free of cost.
