Firebug Lite – Firebug for Google Chrome!

If you are a Firebug lover and still waiting for it to arrive on Chrome then here’s a good news for you – FireBug – Lite. Firebug Lite is not a substitute for Firebug, or Chrome Developer Tools. It is a tool to be used in conjunction with these tools.

Firebug is one of the most popular web development plugins for Firefox which helps developers to view HTML and modify style and layout in real-time and also accurately analyze network usage and performance.

Firebug Lite provides the rich visual representation we are used to see in Firebugwhen it comes to HTML elements, DOM elements, and Box Model shading. A cool feature of Firebug is that it includes Browser toolbar integration. Moreover, you can also activate Firebug Lite for a particular domain.

Some of the features include :

1. Browser toolbar integration
2. Able to activate Firebug Lite for a particular domain
3. Firebug Lite will be loaded before all other scripts, allowing it to capture all console calls, and all XHR requests for that page
4. It is faster to load, because all code and images will be store in the extension’s directory in your machine
5. Will be able to read external resources in the next version.

But still since Firebug lite is still in beta stage, it has lots of limitations like it can’t read external rsources and doesn’t work well on pages with frames. Moreover Javascript debugger and Net Panel isn’t available.

To activate Firebug lite, just click on the grey icon in the Chrome navigation bar and it will be activated.
